Hawthorn Magic Basketball Club (The official page)

Hawthorn Magic is the representative arm of the Hawthorn Basketball Association (HBA).

Hawthorn Magic is the representative arm of the Hawthorn Basketball Association (HBA). Magic teams are drawn from all teams that play in the HBA Saturday competition.

Magic plays in competitions run by the Victorian Junior Basketball League. These include:

•Victorian Junior State Championship (“VC”)
•Victorian Junior Basketball League (“Metro”) – there are 4 levels, Metro 1, Metro 2, Metro 3 & Metro 4.
•North-West Conference regional competition; and
•Eastern Qualifying regional competition.
The playing standard is higher than in our Saturday competition, and our Magic teams compete against similar representative teams from other basketball associations around Melbourne, e.g. Melbourne Tigers, Eltham Wildcats, Nunawading Spectres, Bulleen Boomers, to name some familiar ones.

Magic players do not leave their Saturday teams.

Magic is an additional opportunity for players. Magic will give you/your child the skills to compete in a better standard of basketball, which brings higher self esteem, new pleasures of achievement and, importantly, new friendships.

The program provides high level training in skills development, court strategy and tactics, and physical fitness.

This, combined with the gain of playing consistently at a higher level, assists the domestic Saturday competition in growing stronger as it develops.
